Work-life balance is the state of symmetry between career and personal life. Most people are more career oriented that they forget about their personal relationship. Others are having a hard time balancing work and personal life. The pandemic has changed lives - the way people work, the way the whole world runs - all boundaries were thrown off balance. Suddenly, people need to adapt on how to work remotely.

So how do you find work-life balance when working at home? In this episode of our Clubhouse Chatrooms, Talent Academy’s Managing Director, Sanja Jovanovic, Talent Academy Intern, Glaiza Jacinto and a special participation by Travel Agent & Professional Development Coach, Jess Zacker Prosper, discussed how to cope up with your work-life balance.
Work-Life Fulfilment
One reason why work-life balance is essential is for an individual’s own happiness and fulfilment. Work fuels many aspects of our lives which is why naturally, it is important for us to find fulfilment with work. The key to achieving this is being able to strike the perfect balance between the two -- setting achievable goals, finding purpose and knowing what you want and when to say no.
Mental Health & Well-Being
Maintaining this balance also reduces stress and helps prevent burnouts in the workplace. In order to achieve work-life balance, we have to learn how to listen to our own body. Your body is your own sanctuary, take care of it. It is your responsibility.
Be healthy, establish a good routine, and have a proper rest in between.
Rest comes in different forms. You may require mental rest, physical rest or even social rest. Sleep is a vital, and often a neglected component of a person’s overall health as we get caught up with our daily activities. That is where boundaries play a crucial role in striking that balance.
Setting Boundaries
Now, most of us are working at home. One tip our speakers all agree on to create a boundary whilst working at home is to stick to a schedule. Have a proper time frame and stick to it.
Having a designated place for working helps a lot because it allows you to focus. It mentally gets you into a work mode and minimises distractions.
Key Takeaways
We only have one body to take care of. It is important to protect our mental health and our physical well-being. Work-life balance is an important part of a healthy work environment. Find your work fulfilment, give your mind plenty of rest, and make sure to set boundaries for yourself. Comment below on a method you use to maintain your work-life balance!
